  • Oladipo suffered a torn patellar tendon in left knee in last year’s playoffs
  • Victor Oladipo was once a promising young player who has seen his career get derailed by injuries. This includes last year when Oladipo tore his patellar tendon in his left knee as a member of the Miami Heat.

After the season, Oladipo was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. New reports have emerged stating Oladipo will not attend the Thunder’s training camp.

According to Thunder General Manager Sam Presti, Oladipo will not attend training camp: “VO is great. He’s been through a lot. He’ll be back this season at some point. But with our roster situation, we can’t prioritize that. But we’re big fans of Victor.”

Most likely, the Thunder will cut Oladipo, giving him an opportunity to join another team. Once a 23.1 points per game scorer, as well as the NBA steals leader, Oladipo is not the same player, but he’s still severable.

If Oladipo had not gone down in the playoffs last year, the Miami Heat might have had a different outcome in the 2023 NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets. His presence wouldn’t have hurt.

Oladipo’s veteran leadership could have helped the young core of the Thunder as well. This makes the statement of Oladipo being left out of training camp a bit of a surprise.

Oladipo’s Career With The Thunder

Victor Oladipo was once a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. He played the 2016-17 season in Oklahoma City and played well next to Russell Westbrook.

Oladipo put up averages of 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He helped OKC win 47 games in their first season without Kevin Durant.

After Oladipo’s one session with the Thunder, he was traded to the Indiana Pacers for Paul George. It was in Indiana where Oladipo had his best season, where he averaged over 23 points and led the league in steals with 2.4 per game.

Where will Oladipo end up next season? Hopefully, he will be back in the NBA since his talent is deserving of a roster spot.
