Back in October, NBA superstar LeBron James gave a glowing review of top European prospect Victory Wembanyama.

Speaking on his unique and unparalleled game, James likened the young stud to an alien and used words like ‘fluid’ and ‘graceful’ to describe his game.

”We’re labeling like this unicorn thing—everybody’s been a unicorn over the last few years,” James said. “But he’s more like an alien—no one has seen anyone as tall as he is but as fluid and as graceful as he is on the floor.”

James has clearly studied Wemby’s game first-hand, and he seems to recognize how special the young big man can be when he makes the transition to the pros.

As for Victor himself, he finally got the chance to respond to the ‘alien’ comparison in a recent interview with Andy Nesbitt of Sports Illustrated.

“First of all, I’m really glad he said that because I didn’t like to be called a unicorn,” Wembanyama said. “I like it because it’s just something not from this world. I like being called an alien, yeah. It’s really what I’m working to be—something unique and original.”

Victor hasn’t played a single minute of NBA action, but he somehow remains one of the most hyped prospects the league has ever seen. As a 7’5″ giant, he’s taller than Shaquille O’Neal and can hit threes, put the ball on the floor, and make plays for his teammates.

Where Will Wembanyama Get Drafted?

As the top prospect in the upcoming draft, there is no question that Victor will be the first overall pick. The only thing that’s uncertain is which team will have the first pick when it’s time for the draft.

At first glance, the Spurs, Pistons, and Rockets seem to be leading the race, but the level of parity this season could result in an unexpected draft lottery winner.

But no matter how things play out this season, all eyes will be on Victor Wembanyama leading up to the draft. His size and skills are undeniable, and he has the work ethic and maturity teams dream of in their franchise guy.

Hopefully, by this time next season, Wembanyama will be recognized in the league as the star we all predict he will become.
