Victor Wembanyama is the man of the hour in the NBA after the draft lottery results were revealed. The Frenchman is set to enter the league this upcoming season as part of the San Antonio Spurs.

The big man is ready to make an impact on the league, but before, he went off in the LNB, leading Metropolitans 92 to the second position in the LNB’s regular season, only behind EuroLeague Final-Four-bound Monaco. In doing so, Wembanyama won several awards, which explains how great this player already is.

“Best player, best defender, best young player and member of the best five of the season… Difficult to do better than Victor Wembanyama, winner of absolutely ALL the awards put into play by the LNB, during his traditional presentation of individual trophies,” Florian Benfaid of Basket USA writes.

“Also best scorer (21.6), rebounder (10.4) and blocker (3.0) in 2022/23. “Wemby” therefore said goodbye to the French championship in the best of ways, before probably taking the direction of Spurs in NBA, in just over a month.”

This is incredible for Wembanyana, especially considering his age, all the hype around him, and the competition he had in the LNB. With teams like Monaco featuring Mike James, and Asvel-Lyon with Nando de Colo, it was Wemby who stood out the most.

Now, things are about to get more interesting for him, as the Spurs were waiting for an opportunity like this. This is a match made in heaven and everybody around the league is well aware of that.

Victor Wembanyama’s Impact On The League Will Be Huge

Wemby’s upcoming arrival won’t only boost the Spurs’ level on the court but will also benefit them on the financial side. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, one NBA president told whoever got Wemby would see their value increase by as much as $500 million.

The Spurs are not a big market in the NBA, but they know how to manage their stars, and with the right decisions, they will get back to the top, with Wemby showing the way for many years.
