Video: Joel Embiid And The 76ers Celebrate After MVP Reveal

Joel Embiid's emotional reaction after winning MVP.

3 Min Read

Joel Embiid didn’t ask to be the MVP this season, but we all knew how much he wanted the recognition. After coming up short in each of the past two seasons (losing to Nikola Jokic), he finally won the award this year after an excellent campaign.

Although the superstar big man is currently sidelined with an injury, it didn’t stop him from celebrating the achievement with his teammates. In a video that has gone viral on Twitter, you can see the moment Embiid is announced as the winner.

Joel was clearly very emotional after learning of his MVP win, and you can see his teammates (including his co-star James Harden) go up and shower him with praise and celebration.

It’s truly a feel-good story for a team that has been through tough times over the years. From repeated injuries to star players refusing to suit up and play, there is seemingly always something going on for the Sixers.

But now, with Embiid officially named the MVP and the team up 1-0 over the Boston Celtics, they can celebrate without guilt.

Of course, they won’t be able to celebrate for too long as the Celtics will look to bounce back in the series with a win in Game 2.

Can The 76ers Make It To The Conference Finals?

The good news for Philly is that James Harden appears to be in prime condition after dropping 45 points on Monday. In a game without Embid, the Beard shocked everyone by turning back the clock to channel his MVP form.

But the Celtics are unlikely to go down without a fight, and Philadelphia can expect them to show some major desperation moving forward.

On the injury front, Joel is likely out for Game 2, but he should return at some point down the road, and his presence should give them a chance to send the Celtics home.

If not, we may start to ask some serious questions about the 76ers and if it’s worth keeping their core intact.
