LeBron James is the leader of the Los Angeles Lakers, and the entire team looks up to his leadership during tough times. But due to his foot injury, James has been unable to motivate his teammates by being on the court.

Instead, LeBron is doing so by cheering them or chatting with them from the sidelines. One of the most recent examples of it was when LeBron had a talk with Davis during the fourth quarter of the Lakers vs. Mavericks game. The moment between the two superstars understandably went viral for a plethora of reasons.

When the clip was taken, the Lakers were still up by three points with 50 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately, LeBron’s pep talk seemingly did more harm than good for Davis and the Lakers.

Davis made a couple of mistakes at the most crucial time of the game. First, he fouled Kleber, which led to him knocking down three free-throw shots. Later, Davis missed one of his free throw attempts as well.

Last but definitely not least, Davis was the player who tried to contest Maxi Kleber’s game-winning three-point shot but failed in doing that as well. All things considered, the final minute or so of the game was extremely forgettable for Davis.

NBA Fans React To LeBron James’ Pep Talk To Anthony Davis

LeBron James and Anthony Davis‘ moment during the final quarter of the game was destined to go viral either way. Had the Lakers won the game, it would have been perceived as a great lesson from James to Davis. But since the Lakers lost the game, fans reacted to it in a negative manner.

Comments have been edited for clarification:

“Don’t know what he told him, but he then went on to make a 3-point foul, missed 1 free-throw, and then did not cover the game-winning shot,” a fan tweeted.

‘Season’s on the line, and he still not playing back-to-backs. SMH,” a fan showed his frustration.

Fans either believed James spewed some words of motivation to Davis or simply told him to be more aggressive in the final seconds of the game.

Either way, James’ words to Davis did more harm than good. Davis had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists to his name. But the performance was not enough to keep the Lakers from falling down to a 34-37 record.
