Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas have enjoyed a rivalry that is as legendary as it is bitter. Jordan hated Thomas and his Bad Boy Pistons, but they did stop him from winning championships for 2 years while claiming them for Detroit.

In The Last Dance documentary, Michael Jordan went at Isiah Thomas, calling him an a**hole and saying he hated the Pistons. And Thomas recently addressed this on a podcast with Cedric Maxwell, saying the comments hurt him, but MJ has never reached out to him about it.

(starts at 18:30 minutes)

“Now he calls me an a**hole and then says, ‘I hate him.’ Big words,” Isiah Thomas said. “Ain’t nobody ever said that about me. Former player, current player, ain’t nobody ever said, ‘I hate him.’ He said, ‘As much as I hate him…’

“I’m like, whoa, whoa. Now, we’re looking around, and my phone starts ringing. It’s his former teammates, his inner circle. ‘Well, Michael didn’t mean it. It didn’t come off the right way.’ I never hear from Michael. I’m hearing from everybody around him. Now, every interview I do, including this one, I have to answer the Michael Jordan question.

“If you didn’t mean it, then come out and clean it up. But if you meant it, you can leave it like it is, but stop sending your people to tell me that ain’t what you mean.”

These are strong words from Isiah Thomas, who hasn’t let go of the way Michael Jordan has handled this whole situation. Their beef is unlikely to ever get resolved, especially not easily. Thomas still takes shots at Jordan, and from what the GOAT has said, he’ll always hate the Pistons. But others are trying to get them to drop it.

Magic Johnson Says He Will Try To Get Michael Jordan And Isiah Thomas To End Their Beef

Magic Johnson was arguably the best player in the league in the 80s, and both Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas admired him. He spoke recently, saying he’ll try to help squash the animosity between the two.

“I don’t like it. I think they should be done with that. Listen, we played when we played. We all had to dislike each other to win a championship. We all had to do what we had to do… I’m definitely gonna try man because they should be past it. They’re my boys. So, I guess I’m gonna have to be the one to bring them together.”

It will take a lot to end the animosity between the two NBA legends; the hate runs deep between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas. And it’s hard to imagine Jordan swallowing his pride to meet Isiah halfway, either. This rivalry is truly evergreen and a source of endless entertainment for NBA fans.
