Luka Doncic may be dealing with a thigh injury that’s kept him out of three straight games for the Dallas Mavericks, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing some football, a sport that’s close to his heart, after basketball, of course.

According to Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News, the Slovenian was seen kicking a football during the Mavericks’ practice session as he continues to recover from injury.

Doncic was seen showing off his skills — including chesting one which proves that the man can play football quite well. It’s worth noting that his nation’s biggest sport is football and the man himself is a massive Real Madrid fan. He would have been over the moon after watching his favorite team pip Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

On the season front, Doncic will be missing the Mavericks’ crucial game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. While the 23-year-old was a full participant during the team’s practice, it appears that the team isn’t keen on fielding their best player as he continues to recover to full strength.

Luka Doncic Talks About The Dallas Mavericks Biggest Weakness At The Moment

Gifted with astute knowledge of the game, incredible athleticism, and tremendous IQ, Luka Doncic doesn’t need days to analyze what’s wrong with the Mavericks. Injuries to Kyrie Irving and himself aside, the point guard explained what was the biggest weakness for the side at the moment.

Speaking to ESPN earlier this month, “I think the offense, we’re very good,” Doncic explained. “But the defensive ends we’ve got to have communication better, everything better. That’s our weak point right now.”

The Mavericks may have elevated themselves to title contenders after acquiring Irving, but their defensive aspect of the game has been a challenge for them since. The side has lost three of their last five games and that puts their playoff aspirations in major jeopardy.

The side is 35-35 at the time of writing and will need to notch up a string of wins if they intend to make the postseason. For now, they have the Lakers threat to vault over, and Dallas will hope to have their superstar back on the court as soon as possible.
