The Los Angeles Lakers have been an overall poor team this season, and there’s no doubt that they have had an up-and-down year. We saw Anthony Davis miss a fair bit of time this year, and that has resulted in them losing quite a few games during his absence. Based on new reporting, it seems as though there has also been some turmoil in the locker room recently.

It was reported that Russell Westbrook and coach Darvin Ham had a heated altercation in the locker room during the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook and coach Darvin Ham had a brief, heated verbal exchange in the locker room during halftime of Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources told ESPN.

The cause of the altercation seemed to be Russell Westbrook’s reaction to getting subbed off at the end of the 2nd quarter for LeBron James. It was clear that the point guard was unhappy as he took his time to get subbed off, and it is clear that this spilled out into a verbal exchange with coach Ham later on…

Russell Westbrook Took His Time To Get To The Bench

Recently, a video of the incident was posted on Reddit. The announcer even pointed out that the team might get a delay of game violation since Russell Westbrook was “taking his time” getting subbed off.

There is no doubt that this is a poor look for Russell Westbrook, and it is unfortunate that the point guard should have simply subbed off normally. It is unclear why he was upset at coach Ham’s decision.

Many people have suggested that LeBron James threw Russell Westbrook under the bus with his recent comments about Kyrie Irving, and perhaps that could be the cause of the point guard’s emotional state during this game. We also saw Russell Westbrook’s brother make a sarcastic comment toward LeBron James after those comments.

It is clear that Russell Westbrook’s tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers has not been the best, and perhaps it is best for both sides to move on from their partnership. It was recently reported that the Los Angeles Lakers are discussing a three-team trade that would send Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz. This would signal a new start for the point guard, and perhaps Russell Westbrook will be happier as a contributor on another team.
