RJ Barrett and the New York Knicks aren’t conceding defeat yet, and they made that clear with a convincing win in a must-win Game 5 to keep their playoff run alive.

Barrett had a big night with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists at the Garden to help New York live to fight another day. Speaking to the media after the win, the forward revealed the Knicks’ mindset.

“We’re fighting for our lives,” Barrett said, per Sports Illustrated, after the win on Wednesday. “This is something that can be done. It’s been done 13 times before.”

Barrett is drawing inspiration from the 13 teams who came back strong after trailing 3-1 and it is clear that the Knicks will throw the kitchen sink at Miami to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Also playing their part in the win was Julius Randle with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and as many assists. Jalen Brunson led from the front with 38 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jimmy Butler had an off night with 19 points for the Heat, while Bam Adebayo had 18 as the Heat went down 112-103. The action now shifts to Miami for a crucial Game 6.

Can The New York Knicks Pull Off A 4-3 Win Against The Miami Heat?

The Knicks seem to have rediscovered their mojo in Game 5 to stave off elimination, but they will have to get the better of the Heat in the next two games, which will surely not be a cakewalk.

Earlier, Randle called the team out for their lack of effort on the rebounding end. “Maybe they want it more, I don’t know,” the forward said in the aftermath of the 109-101 loss that puts them at a 3-1 disadvantage.

“That’s been who we are all year, and we’ve got to find a way to step up and make those plays if we want to keep this season alive.”

Now, the Knicks have one more chance to force a Game 7.  A series win here will see them square off against the Boston Celtics or the Philadelphia 76ers. Either way, it won’t be an easy ride for the team.
