Just four years down the line, the 2019 NBA Draft class is turning out to be a huge disappointment. It’s truly shocking as the class has some truly talented basketball players, such as Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, Jordan Poole, and PJ Washington.
Speaking of these four players in particular, they have found themselves amidst a lot of controversies in the past four seasons.
Starting things off with the 12th overall pick in the 2019 Draft. Washington was selected by the Charlotte Hornets. In 260 games, he has averaged 12.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 2.3 APG. But that’s not the biggest concern around him.
Back in 2021, Washington’s ex-wife Brittany Renner filed for divorce just two weeks after having his baby. Renner is reportedly getting $200K a month in child support from Washington. Renner, who was recently seen having dinner with Shaquille O’Neal, claimed the easiest way for a woman to make payday is to have a child with athletes.
PJ Washington’s Ex-partner claims that if you want an easy pay day just “F*ck an athlete, they’re really dumb”… “they don’t use condoms”…

Next, we have Golden State Warriors star Jordan Poole. Poole was selected using the 28th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. In his 266 games, he has averaged 15.8 PPG, 2.6 RPG, and 3.4 APG.
Poole impressed the Warriors following his impressive run in the 2022 postseason, averaging 17.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 3.8 APG. The Dubs handed him a four-year $140 million contract extension.
Prior to signing the contract, Poole was punched in the face by Draymond Green during an offseason practice session. Since then, JP’s confidence seems shaken. He averaged just 10.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, and 3.5 APG in the 2023 postseason.
Following Poole’s unimpressive run, there are rumors that the Warriors may trade him for another star this summer.
Let’s get to the good part now. Yes, we are talking about none other than the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Ja Morant. Basketball-wise, the Memphis Grizzlies superstar has been doing great.
In 248 games in his career, he has averaged 22.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.4 APG. Morant also signed a five-year $193 million supermax contract extension in 2022. Ja has all the tools to become the next face of the league.
But outside of basketball, Ja Morant cannot seem to keep himself out of trouble. He was initially suspended by the NBA for eight games after flashing a gun at a Colorado strip club in April 2023.
After apologizing for his behavior, Morant once again flashed a gun in an Instagram Live video in May 2023. This time around, the punishment for Morant is expected to be severe. There are rumors that Morant could be out for the first half of the 2023-24 NBA season.
Ja’s camp is desperate to reduce the suspension. So much so that they are claiming Ja was holding a toy gun in the second gun-flashing video. It’s truly sad to see where Morant’s career is heading right now.
The most recent player from the 2019 NBA Draft class that has disappointed is the first overall pick, Zion Williamson. The biggest issue for Zion has been staying healthy. Williamson has played just 114 games in the first four seasons of his career.
Sure, he has averaged 25.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 3.6 APG in the time span, but his fitness has been a recurring issue for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Now, Zion has gotten into more controversy after announcing that he is welcoming a daughter with his girlfriend Ahkeema. Ahkeema is allegedly a former stripper, and it stirred up a controversy about why she’s with Zion.
If that wasn’t enough, adult star Moriah Mills recently threw a number of allegations at Williamson.

Moriah claimed that Zion had a relationship with her while never telling her about his pregnant girlfriend. All things considered, Williamson finds himself in a complicated situation.
At the end of the day, the 2019 NBA Draft class has disappointed fans in several controversies, primarily off the court.
Stephen A. Smith Called Out Zion Williamson For His Alleged Relationship With A Porn Star
The NBA community is shocked after hearing about Zion Williamson’s alleged relationship with porn star Moriah Mills.
NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith was among those who absolutely berated Zion. Smith even blamed his alleged relationship with Mills for his inability to stay fit.
“No wonder you ain’t healthy,” Smith said. “I’m talking about your legs. We need those legs, spry. We need you bench pressing with your big self. We need you bench pressing about 400 pounds. We need you running up and down that court. He’s a man-child, but you can’t get healthy. Your lower extremities were compromised.”
Zion Williamson was expected to hit the ground running in the 2023-24 season after playing just 29 games this season.
But it seems like Zion will have to deal with his off-court issues, before he can focus on playing basketball in the NBA.
