Point guard Ja Morant is the face of the Memphis Grizzlies, and there’s no doubt that he is an elite player when he’s on the court. He’s a top-tier slasher and playmaker who can carry a team’s offense.

Despite his talent, there has been a lot of negative media coverage about Ja Morant, largely due to his off-court incidents where he was caught flashing guns on camera. At this point, it seems as though some sort of suspension is coming for Ja Morant. A recent report from Sam Amico of Hoops Wire revealed that league personnel believes that he will be suspended for at least half of the 2023-24 season.

“League sources have told Hoops Wire they believe Morant will be suspended for no less than the first half of the regular season.”

There is no doubt that this is a hefty suspension that could potentially have a huge effect on the Memphis Grizzlies’ season. However, they have also shown that they can survive without Ja Morant for extended periods in the past.

This season, Ja Morant averaged 26.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 8.1 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies. He is clearly an All-NBA level player when on the court, and hopefully, he can get past these off-court issues in the future.

People In The NBA Community Are Worried About Ja Morant’s Well-Being

Aside from the basketball aspect of things, it seems as though people in the league are legitimately concerned about Ja Morant’s well-being. In fact, a previous report revealed that people are legitimately worried that he won’t be alive in five years due to the environment that he puts himself in.

“People within the NBA community are not just concerned about Ja Morant playing basketball, they’re concerned whether or not he’s gonna be alive in five years because of the environments he finds himself around and the situations he finds himself confronted by,” said Stephen A Smith. “It’s a serious matter and I think it’s something that the NBA and anybody who knows anything about the kind of things that are going on with him, needs to find themselves concerned about.”

There is no doubt that this is concerning, and hopefully, we see things change for Ja Morant. Nobody wants to see him get seriously hurt, and the key for him now is to keep his head down and focus on basketball.
