Scoot Henderson is working to convince lottery teams that he’s the real deal ahead of a very talented 2023 NBA Draft. Henderson, who played on G League Ignite before declaring for the draft, is one of the most exciting prospects of this class, but it seems like he still has people to convince.

After his workout with the Portland Trail Blazers, the young guard was asked about his chances to create a backcourt with Damian Lillard. Henderson boasted huge confidence, saying this:

“Those guys have different games than me,” he said when speaking on other guards his size that played with Lillard. “Anywhere I go, I think I can fit in. I can do a lot of things on the floor and I think that’s the beauty about me and beauty about being Scoot Henderson. I’m going to give 110 percent effort every time. I’m an attacker, I’m a facilitator and I can do a lot of things on the floor. I think I can fit in anywhere.”

Talking about what type of relationship he’s had with Lillard, Henderson revealed they spoke over text in 2021 but nothing else.

“Naw, the craziest thing is I text Dame like 2021 asking for advice, just little things in the game that hoopers know. He text back, I wanna say, earlier this year or last year and that’s the only relationship that we have. I seen him when I came in, dapped him up, it’s really cool. He’s a dog too, so,” he told Casey Holdahl of NBA.com

It seems like Henderson would welcome teaming up with Damian Lillard, but the veteran guard has made it clear he won’t like to be a part of a team with young guys developing.

The Blazers are on the same page, as they’re willing to trade the No. 3 overall pick that would grant them Henderson. However, anything can happen before draft night, and the Blazers could change their mind about Hender or any other prospect.

Scoot Henderson Only Plans To Work Out With Hornets And Trail Blazers

Meanwhile, the young guard has made it clear he will work out only for two franchises, naming the Charlotte Hornets as the other team that will check out his talents.

Henderson has claimed he has everything to become the No. 1 overall pick, even with Victor Wembanyama taking all the attention with him. Still, this player has a bright future in the league, and either on the Blazers or any other team, he’ll have the chance to thrive.
