Danny Green On The Clippers: “You Shouldn’t Be As Cocky Because A Lot Of Times It’s Going To Go The Opposite Way.”

After talking big all season long, the Los Angeles Clippers came face-to-face with humility in the playoffs, blowing a 3-1 lead to get knocked off by the Nuggets in the Western Conference Semis.

The Clippers have plans for redemption but, until then, they will continue to be the subject of ridicule and criticism by the NBA community.

The latest to dish down a judgment on the Clippers was 2020 Champion Danny Green, who attributed their failure (at least partly) to the cockiness they displayed throughout the season.

“I think the basketball Gods will humble you if you don’t play the game the right way or do the right thing. . . You shouldn’t be as cocky or because a lot of times it’s going to go the opposite way.”

Obviously, the Clippers fell way short of expectations for the 2019-20 campaign. Despite having the deepest and most talented roster in the league, they were unable to advance past the second round — and instead watched as the Purple and Gold took home the prize.

This offseason will be a major one for them as they regroup and retool with the hopes of a better showing next campaign.

We’ll see how it works out for them.
