With two of his sons in the NBA, we can expect to hear a lot more from the infamous Big Baller ambassador, LaVar Ball.
In the past, he has always been one to grab headlines for making outlandish claims, speaking in hyperbolic ways about the talents of his sons, and refusing to relent anyone who might stand in the way of the family’s success.
Days after his son’s draft night, LaVar is making headlines again — though, this time, it’s for his take on the GOAT debate.
“The greatest of all-time, how do you measure that? You measure that by your victories and what you did in those victories. I ain’t taking about you got 12 rings and you’ve been on five different teams. I’m talking about a dude who went to the Finals who was the main guy six times in a row,” LaVar said of the NBA GOAT debate in an appearance on ‘Club Shay Shay.’
Of course, it didn’t take long for him to quickly uplift his sons, claiming it was only a matter of time before they overtook Jordan in the GOAT debate.
“When you have losses on your record, you can’t be the greatest of all-time. That dude ain’t got no losses in the Finals. So it’s always going to be Michael Jordan until my boys succeed that, which is going to happen.”
Most would say it’s already too late for Lonzo to enter that conversation, as he is now entering his fourth season with no All-Staar appearances and a 10.7 point per game average.
Melo, on the other hand, is generating a lot of buzz around the NBA community, especially for Hornets fans. As, arguably, the best scorer in his draft class, he’s going to have the chance to show the world just what he can do.
Unfortunately, it’s a stretch to say any of LaVar’s sons are going to come anywhere close to MJ, but it’s good to know that he hasn’t wavered in his confidence one bit since Lonzo was in the spotlight.
