Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Last 12 Months Were Unbelievable: Championship, Finals MVP, NBA MVP, Largest Contract Ever, DPOY, ASG MVP

When Giannis Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks, no one thought he would reach the heights he has reached in his career right now. From being a mid-draft pick in the first round to becoming one of the best players in the league, Giannis has come a long way.

But even in his phenomenal career, the last 12 months have been simply sensational for the Greek Freak. Last year, there was a lot of uncertainty around his future with the Bucks. In the era of super teams, most believe that Giannis should have left the Bucks and formed a super team.

Antetokounmpo, on the other hand, firmly put those rumors to bed when he signed a massive extension with Milwaukee. That was just the tip of the iceberg. As highlighted by the Instagram page ‘Basketballoverdose,’ Giannis had a crazy run.

The biggest contract in NBA history was awarded to him for his efforts in winning the 2020 regular season MVP award while coupling it with the Defensive Player Of The Year award as well.

Breaking: Giannis Antetokounmpo says he is signing a contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. The two-time MVP will sign a five-year, $228.2 million supermax extension with the franchise, the largest deal in NBA history, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

That’s not all, he won the 2021 All-Star MVP award as well. The only thing that was missing from Giannis’ illustrious resume was an NBA championship.

He achieved that goal in the 2020-21 season as well. After making it to the NBA Finals, the Bucks faced off against the Phoenix Suns. The Greek Freak had insane finals run that helped him in bagging the first championship and Finals MVP of his career.

It is crazy to think that despite already having so many accolades to his name; he is just 26-years-old. If he can bag a few more championships before hanging his sneakers, he will also enter the conversation of being one of the best players in NBA history.

With the 2021-22 NBA season starting soon, fans will be excited to see the reigning NBA champions back in action. Although Giannis and the Bucks won it all last season, they will have their hands full in defending the title. Their biggest rivals are the Brooklyn Nets and their superstar trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden.
