The NBA has become a nationwide model for how to handle the Coronavirus pandemic. From their Orlando bubble playoff games to their COVID safety plan to start this season, the NBA has been super proactive in trying to keep their players healthy and virus-free.

Unfortunately, COVID 19 continues to loom over the league, and it has reared its ugly head once again.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Sixers point guard Seth Curry has tested positive for COVID-19, starting a team-wide quarantine for the Sixers.

@sixers guard @sdotcurry returned a positive test for the coronavirus, prompting the entire team to stay overnight to commence contact tracing Friday morning in New York, sources tell ESPN. The team learned of Curry’s result once a loss in Brooklyn was underway tonight, where he sat with teammates and coaches on the bench. He went to an isolation room immediately, and thereafter left arena separate from team.

Unfortunately, the news didn’t break until after the game had ensued, meaning the Nets could have been also exposed to the virus. At this time, reporters say the team still plans on heading to Memphis for their Friday night game.

It remains to be seen what else will transpire as a result of the positive test, but it’s a reminder to the league that this thing hasn’t yet slowed down, and it still possess a significant threat to the NBA and their plans to have a successful season.
