Brad Stevens On Brooklyn Nets Roster: “I Think It’s The Deepest Team In The NBA And Quite Possibly — Certainly In The Conversation For The Best.”

The Brooklyn Nets look like they are going to be the breakout team of the year. The development of their young core, along with the return of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant has made that roster a championship contender. Some would consider them a superteam, considering Spencer Dinwiddie looked like a star at times last season. To a lot of fans, the Brooklyn Nets are a lock for the Finals. The Nets have started off the season scorching hot, beating the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics in their first two games.

Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reported that Celtics coach Brad Stevens had some praise for the Brooklyn Nets, putting them in conversations for the best team in the league. Stevens watched his Celtics team get beat by a superior Nets squad and has also coached Kyrie Irving in the past.

“I think it’s the deepest team in the NBA and quite possibly — certainly in the conversation for the best,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said.

Stevens wouldn’t be wrong in assessing the Brooklyn Nets’ threat level. The Nets looked amazing in their first two games. The young Celtics were billed by analysts to take a big jump, and their game against the Nets served as a reminder that there is still a lot more they could learn. The Brooklyn Nets though, are a championship-ready team: there is no learning curve. Irving and Durant are both champions, and they seek to add another title to their accolades. The other players are all elite, with most of them being able to play a limited role.

The Brooklyn Nets are going to be a scary team this season. With Kevin Durant looking like his old self again, it is fully conceivable they could reach, and possibly win in the Finals. If this pace keeps up, the Nets could be the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, with a dominant outlook for the postseason.
