There are currently speculations by all NBA followers on where superstars will end up in the future. Russell Westbrook has already been traded. Chris Paul as well. Perhaps someone like James Harden is going to be next. The best players in the world are going to have their eyes on them, and one of those players is Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. With his impending free agency in 2021, many teams were planning to pitch their franchise to the Greek star.

However, all those discussions were put to rest. Giannis Antetokounmpo signed a new 5-Year, $228 million supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, and his future appears set for the time being. A fellow Eastern Conference star, Jimmy Butler, reacted to the news, as reported by David Lang of Local10.com.

Butler said, “I like it. I don’t think you can go around him. I don’t think you can go around LeBron either. You have to go right through them. You have to beat them. You also have to beat the Sixers, Boston, Toronto. There’s a lot of squads in the East with some really good players. Doesn’t intimidate me none. I actually get excited for it. I want to go up against the best, my guys want to go up against the best. That’s our way to show we belong. That’s how we get our respect.”

Jimmy Butler is one of the top stars in the league, and his quote shows a great deal of respect towards the Greek superstar. He confirms that he thinks that Antetokounmpo is one of the best stars in the league: Butler also admits that he is happy to see Antetokounmpo get the extension as Butler wants to compete: “I want to go up against the best, my guys want to go up against the best”.

The Miami Heat against the Milwaukee Bucks would be a heavily anticipated rematch. While the Heat unceremoniously dispatched the Bucks this year, next year could be different. One thing is for sure: Butler loves competition, even if it is against the reigning MVP.
