NBA Rumors: Lakers Didn’t Pursue Reggie Jackson Because Of His Relationship With Paul George

The Los Angeles Clippers are really hurting the Lakers’ chances to land quality players and Reggie Jackson is the latest sample of that. The point guard agreed to a buyout with the Detroit Pistons and now is set to start a new chapter in his career with the Clippers.

Something curious about this is the fact that the Lakers also had the opportunity to go after him, but they turned down that possibility.

According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, the Lakers never pursued Jackson, considering his agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA, also represents Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers, something that would make the job very difficult for the Purple and Gold.

Pincus also notes that while there’s no particular bad blood between CAA and Klutch Sports, which represents players like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the agent and the Lakers have been “out of sync” for some time now.

The Lakers still need a point guard to back up LeBron James. Even though there were no signs that Jackson was that player to help Bron, they keep losing players to their neighbors. First, they lost Marcus Morris before the trade deadline and when the buyout market opened, they also lost the chance to acquire Jackson.

With this move, the Clippers look more dangerous than ever, while the Lakers are still looking for the pieces they need to face their rivals.
