The Los Angeles Lakers lost their second consecutive game with a 110-134 loss to the 5-0 Cleveland Cavaliers. The game marked rookie Bronny James‘ second appearance for the Lakers, as he got a chance to play in his hometown alongside LeBron James. Despite the loss, the James family will have reason to celebrate tonight as Bronny scored his first NBA points with a mid-range jumper late in the fourth quarter.

Bronny played five minutes in this game, putting up two points, two assists, and one steal on 1-2 shooting from the field. He couldn’t notch points during his debut against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but at least he managed to get them in this game in an arena he grew up around because of his father.

LeBron James is the greatest player in Cavaliers history, bringing them their only championship in 2016. He put up 26 points, six rebounds, and three assists in this loss, ending the night as a -17 as the Lakers were blown out by the new-look Cavaliers. The loss will sting but the triumphant moment for the James family to see both father and son get buckets in the arena they once called home.

Bronny James Will Be Headed To The G League

It doesn’t look like Bronny will be making another NBA appearance over the season, with the rookie guard expected to cut his teeth at the development ground known as the G League, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“Bronny James is expected to travel on the team’s upcoming road trip from Oct. 28-Nov. 6 and then begin shuttling between the active roster and the franchise’s South Bay G League affiliate. As Bronny James and his representative, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, discussed development throughout his predraft process with NBA teams, sources told ESPN that the concept of the G League was welcomed.”

It will be a cutthroat challenge for Bronny, as the G League is full of players looking for an NBA opportunity. If they see Bronny on the court, they’ll try to get a highlight by attacking him on the court and trying to outperform him.

Hopefully, Bronny’s skills hold up well enough for him to earn more minutes for the Lakers this season. He’s combination of on-ball defense and theoretical floor-spacing should make him a success in the G League, but with Bronny not being a high stat production player, people will have to keep a close eye on him to see how he’s positively impacting the game.
