The NBA, WNBA, and Nike, announced today in a press release that they have extended their current partnership with each other. This contract will see Nike continue to be the exclusive athletic wear, merchandise, and marketing partner of the NBA, WNBA, and the NBA G-League.

(NYSE: NKE), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) today announced a 12-year extension of their global outfitting, merchandising, marketing, and content partnership that solidifies NIKE, Inc. as the leader in global basketball and as the exclusive on-court uniform and apparel provider for the NBA, WNBA and NBA G League.”
“NIKE, Inc. will extend its rights over 12 additional seasons to design and manufacture NBA, WNBA, and G League uniforms, on-court apparel, and fan apparel, furthering its commitment to grow and improve the sport of basketball for the next generation.”
Elliot Hill, the President and CEO of Nike spoke fondly of the partnerships the company has built with the NBA and the WNBA. He added that their working partnership will be defined by an increase in opportunities and avenues for the league and its fans.
“Nike has always been more than a league sponsor — we’re a strategic partner with an unwavering commitment to growing the game, alongside the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League. Our collective power, global reach, and genuine love for the game will only continue to create new pathways and opportunities for players and fans.”
Nike, along with being a major shoe provider and brand that endorses athletes, will continue to provide the jerseys and merchandising for the entire league. This agreement only increases the stronghold that the brand have on the sport of basketball.
Adam Silver And Andre Iguodala On Nike Partnership
Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, spoke about the partnership with Nike, noting that Nike has been historically linked to basketball and has done a lot to grow the sport. Now, having inked a new partnership, they look to expand the sport and focus on developing the youth and providing them with more opportunities.
“Nike is inextricably linked to basketball and has helped fuel the growth and innovation around our sport for decades. This deal also involved a successful re-negotiation with the NBPA to license the players’ names and likenesses as part of the merchandising deals. Andre Iguodala, the NBPA executive director, speaking about the deal, shared his excitement for the players of the league getting highlighted and showcased further through this deal.

These renewed partnerships will include some new initiatives that the three parties will undertake together. The financial details of the deal are yet to be shared at this time, but it follows the eight-year agreement that was signed in 2015 and came into effect during the 2017-18 NBA season. This new extension will be carried out till the 2037-38 NBA and WNBA seasons.
