Gilbert Arenas has become a media personality in his retired life. As a result, he’s in tune with internet culture. He was seen battle-rapping against internet legend SupaHotFire, who held no punches.

“I like boxing but there ain’t nobody to blame. Me and Gil are not the same. He drew down in a locker room, I draw down in a game. 2K graphics, I make them sweat for real. I’m not a referee, but this is a tech for real. You were in the NBA back when I was broke. Sike. I been paid. I put the Heat to his face, give him flashbacks to D-Wade.”

SupaHotFire went viral in the 2010s for his odd battle-rapping style, made famous due to the overexaggerated reactions of people watching. He was heavily memed at the time and disappeared off the internet before recently resurfacing for occasional videos and appearances like the one above.

He referenced Gilbert Arenas’ infamous gun incident when he and Javaris Crittenton drew on each other in the Wizards locker room before a game. He also referenced the Eastern Conference battles between Dwayne Wade’s Miami Heat and Arenas’ Wizards.

Gilbert Arenas’ Infamous Gun Draw Got Him Suspended For A Whole Season

The gun incident led to Arenas being given one of the heaviest suspensions in NBA history. The showdown took place early in the 2009-10 season and led to both players missing the entire season. They also faced legal consequences, pleading guilty to misdemeanor weapons charges and getting sentenced to probation.

Arenas heavily regrets the incident.

“Going through that situation with Javaris, it was really shocking because my whole thing was like man you can do a hundred things right, you make one mistake, it erases your whole legacy. My whole legacy is cleared out for one bad decision, one bad judgment… Just worldwide over, this one thing is what, you’re judging me off of now.”

Thankfully, Arenas got to rehabilitate his reputation and enjoy a successful life after the NBA. He’s one of the most followed media personalities, with his podcast raking in millions of listeners. Things didn’t turn out the same for Crittenton, who never played in the NBA again.

He’s currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for killing a mother of four in a gang-related shooting.

Gilbert Arenas Mistakenly Trash-Talked Dwyane Wade In A Game Once

Another reference SupaHotFire made was to Dwayne Wade enjoying a lot of success against Arenas and the Wizards. Gilbert himself once told the story of how his trash-talking Wade in a game led to him getting ruthlessly cooked.

“We go out for the game. Larry Hughes goes out for 2 minutes, and he (Wade) scores 16 points on me. I go to the bench like, ‘Yeah, he read all that, bro.’ Do not put me on that man no more brother, I done learned my lesson.”

Arenas averaged 21.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in his career against Wade and the Heat. Wade excelled in the matchup, averaging 25.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in that same period. Arenas only won three games in the 17 regular-season matchups between the two.

They also faced off in the 2005 playoffs, with Wade and the Heat sweeping Arenas and the Wizards while averaging 31.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists. Arenas averaged 24.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in those games, trying to make the most of a bad situation.
