  • Cam Johnson provided an update on Ben Simmons
  • Johnson claimed that Simmons will be “close” to his “full form” this season
  • Simmons is reportedly excited about this upcoming season

There is no doubt that Ben Simmons was once one of the premier point guards in the league, being highly regarded due to his athleticism and size at the position. However, he has struggled with injury issues since leaving the Philadelphia 76ers, and many have lost hope that Simmons can get his career back on track.

With that being said, a lot of the news coming out this offseason seems positive when it comes to Ben Simmons. In fact, his Brooklyn Nets teammate Cam Johnson said that he expects Simmons to be close to “full form” entering the season. Previously, it was reported that Simmons is ready to return to All-Star form.

“He sounds good,” Johnson said per Ethan Sears of The New York Post. “He’s in a good place. He says it’s progressing and he’s excited for the season. Looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table this year. I expect him to be, if not full form, pretty close to it.”

It remains to be seen how Ben Simmons actually looks next season. We have seen times where players have looked amazing during the offseason and then did not meet expectations in the season. However, it is definitely encouraging to hear that Simmons is progressing in his injury recovery.

Last season with the Brooklyn Nets, Ben Simmons averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. His scoring aggression has clearly gotten worse in recent years, but if Simmons can fix that issue, he could get back to being a solid complementary player.

The Brooklyn Nets Could Become An Elite Team If Ben Simmons Returns To All-Star Form

Even though many are out on Ben Simmons, there is no question that he could change the entire trajectory for the Brooklyn Nets as a team if he comes in playing like the All-Star he once was. Simmons would clearly become one of the best players on the team if that happens, and Spencer Dinwiddie even suggested that Ben Simmons could make the Nets a contending team if he is in All-Star form.

Hopefully, we do see Ben Simmons get past his issues and become a productive player. Asking him to be an All-Star right now might be a lot, but if he can play big minutes for the Nets and defend at a high level, then that is a win for the franchise.
