Stephen A. Smith is one of the biggest sports personalities out there. The veteran analyst has been entertaining fans for years with his amazing takes and general way of speaking.

Despite being a fan favorite, Smith has managed to make a few enemies during his rise to power. Stephen A. called out his haters in the media industry in a furious rant on his podcast. He posted a segment from it on his Twitter handle.

“Let me address something to some of the haters out there about me,” Smith said. “Y’all can kiss my a**… twice. I’m talking directly to the people in the industry who’ve sat up there and said, ‘Why isn’t Stephen A. gone?’ Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a few people at ESPN getting paid more than me. They don’t have the number one show. They don’t have the top ratings. They don’t generate more revenue.”

Smith continued: “How come y’all didn’t bring their names up? And by the way, none of them are black. How come you didn’t bring their names up? I wonder why. I’m talking to those folks, the critics in the media or the wannabe media with the blogosphere and websites. That never went through the terrain of being official members of the fourth state. I’m talking about them. How come y’all didn’t bring them up? But me, who’s been number one, who’s got the top-rated show, who, by the way, is an executive producer on that top-rated show, my name comes up.”

ESPN recently sacked almost 20 on-air personalities. Stephen A. Smith addressed the firings of his colleagues in a separate video. The 55-year-old survived this round of layoffs, but there are rumors that he could be next.

Stephen A. Smith Says He Could Be The Next Person To Be Fired By ESPN

Stephen A. Smith has been associated with ESPN since 2003. Over the years, Smith’s popularity has only grown, and it has generated huge revenue for the network.

Keeping that in mind, it was no surprise that Smith survived ESPN’s layoff spree. But according to the analyst himself, he could be the next one to get fired.

“This ain’t the end. More is coming. And, yes, ladies and gentlemen, I could be next… Don’t ever ever ever, as a black person, take anything for granted.”

Firing Smith would be one of the worst moves made by ESPN if they indeed let go of him. He has been the face of ‘First Take’ for years and has given fans a plethora of enjoyable moments.

Even if Smith gets laid off, which seems pretty unlikely, he can find a new job in a flash. After all, which network wouldn’t like getting one of the biggest journalists in the country?
