There is no doubt that the Brooklyn Nets are in a retooling process, spearheaded by forward Mikal Bridges. Though he has had a bit of a breakout since joining the team, many have suggested that the team should trade him for young players and assets to truly start rebuilding.

The Portland Trail Blazers are a team that wants to win immediately, and it was previously reported that the team had an interest in Mikal Bridges. However, it seems as though the Nets are not willing to part with the small forward, even in exchange for Anfernee Simons and the No. 3 pick.

“The Nets aren’t gonna do that. I continue to hear the Nets are not going to do that,” Lowe said. “Simons and [the No.] 3 is not going to get Mikal Bridges to Portland.” (8:35)

It is clear that the Brooklyn Nets view Mikal Bridges as a cornerstone of their franchise, and for a good reason. He is an elite two-way player, who has shown that he has room to grow. Though Anfernee Simons is a good scoring guard (21.1 PPG), and the No. 3 pick could be used to either draft Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller, the Nets are clearly not entertaining that offer.

This season, Mikal Bridges averaged 26.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 2.7 APG during his 27 games with the Brooklyn Nets. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can keep that up for a whole season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

The Nets Plan To Rebuild Around Mikal Bridges

At this point, it is fair to say that only a top-tier offer would have the Nets part ways with Mikal Bridges. In fact, previously, it was revealed that the team will try to build around him, rather than let him go.

“Mikal Bridges is a guy they’re going to build around… The kind of offers the Nets have gotten for him speaks to how valuable he is, a player, I think for Brooklyn, they keep in place for the next big star that’s available in a trade.”

Hopefully, we see the Brooklyn Nets find success with Mikal Bridges. He will have to be an All-NBA level player on offense to bring them to the playoffs next season, and we’ll see whether that ends up happening.
