The San Antonio Spurs held the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, and there’s no doubt that this pick has given them a sure-fire chance of adding a franchise cornerstone.

Many anticipated that the team would select Victor Wembanyama with their No. 1 pick, and they have done just that. Though there are other elite prospects in this draft, such as Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller, there was no chance that the Spurs would pass on a generational talent like Wembanyama.

Ahead of the draft, there was a lot of hype regarding Victor Wembanyama. Many believe that his combination of size, skill, and athleticism is something that we have never seen in the league before. Some people even believe that he can surpass players like Michael Jordan and LeBron James as the GOAT of basketball. The pressure will be on him to deliver on the expectations of the public, no matter how lofty they may be. With that being said, Victor Wembanyama has the talent to become a fantastic player, and he could develop into a really special player.

This past season with Metropolitans 92, Victor Wembanyama averaged 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, and 2.4 APG. There is no doubt that those are good numbers, and it’ll be interesting to see whether he can make an immediate impact for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. He has already said that he wants to win a championship as soon as possible, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
