There has been constant chatter about the NBA expanding and potentially adding more teams. Las Vegas and Seattle are viewed as two prominent cities to welcome the new organizations.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Oak View Group CEO Tim Leiweke is increasing his budget to create an NBA-ready arena project in Las Vegas.
“We don’t want to get ahead of [NBA Commissioner] Adam Silver and the NBA,” Leiweke said. “It’s up to the NBA to make a decision on expansion. We’re very careful about making any statements.”
OVG has reportedly raised the budget to $10 for a potential hotel, gaming, and entertainment district in Las Vegas. As of now, there’s no confirmation on whether the NBA will choose Las Vegas as an expansion city. But according to NBA insider Keith Smith, pouring in $10 billion of private money could be a hint.
“This seems to have flown under the radar today. If the Las Vegas group is dropping $10B of private money to build an NBA-ready arena, they have to feel like they are getting an expansion team. I’m guessing Seattle & Las Vegas are announced within three years.”

Smith has predicted it will take just three years for the league to announce new teams in Las Vegas and Seattle. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver claimed in 2020 that the league had put its expansion plans on the back burner.
LeBron James Wants To Become The Owner Of The Potential NBA Team In Las Vegas
LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The King has achieved almost everything that one can hope for during his 20-year stint in the league. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar also reached billionaire status while still being a player in the NBA.
James has expressed his desire to own an NBA team in Las Vegas. So much so that he even sent NBA Commissioner Adam Silver a message about it.
Commissioner Silver loved James’ idea and even praised his aspiration. Silver believes it’s healthy for the league to have players move into management and ownership positions.
Will the King be able to fulfill his dream in the near future? As of now, fans are waiting on his decision about continuing his playing career in the NBA.
