Austin Reaves has had a meteoric rise in the last couple of years, going from being an undrafted free agent in 2021 to a key piece for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023.

With Reaves now becoming somewhat of a celebrity, a wild rumor started making the rounds recently that he was spotted at a bar with singer Taylor Swift, who had recently split with Matt Healy. While NBA Twitter went wild over the rumor, Reaves’ brother Spencer poured cold water on it.

When a fan wondered what bar Reaves took Swift to, Spencer had a hilarious response.

“Austin going to the bar is the most unrealistic part of this whole thing.”

It just seems like someone made up this rumor and it caught fire, which speaks to Reaves’ growing popularity. What made this rumor baseless in the first place, is that he has been in a long-term relationship with Jenna Barber, another Arkansas native.

They both attended Cedar Ridge High School and have reportedly been dating since 2014. Barber has also been to numerous Lakers games and was at the arena during their series with the Golden State Warriors along with Reaves’ mother.

Safe to say we can put this rumor to bed once and for all. Reaves perhaps might have to get used to such rumors popping up about him though, which isn’t ideal.

Austin Reaves Is In Line For A Huge Payday

Following an impressive second half of the 2022-23 regular season, Reaves shone in the playoffs. He averaged 16.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG, and 4.6 APG as the Lakers got to the Western Conference Finals.

Reaves has turned himself into a sought-after commodity as he enters restricted free agency this summer but the Lakers are determined to keep him around. They have made retaining him one of their top priorities as per reports, and are seemingly willing to match any offer he gets, up to $100 million.

When Reaves was signed by the Lakers as an undrafted free agent two years back, no one could have imagined he’d be in line for such a massive payday two years later. It is a credit to his work ethic and if he keeps at it, he is set for a long and successful career in the NBA.
