There is perhaps no rivalry that has lasted as long or runs as deep as the one between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas. The two NBA legends squared off many times in the late 1980s and early 90s, and they have issues with one another to this day.

While most of the discussion is often about the beef between Zeke and MJ, Isiah was recently asked about what would happen if they played together. And his answer left no room for doubt.

“Probably eight. Eight or nine, definitely,” Isiah Thomas said when asked about how many championships they would win if they played together. “We would have won a lot and we’d probably still be playing now. Tryna be somebody. No, we’d have won a lot. During that period, we would have a lot. He won six, I won two, so yeah, eight. Eight or nine.”

Isiah Thomas said that Michael Jordan would have to be on the Detroit Pistons in this scenario though, although we think the reverse would be more likely. Isiah Thomas was born and raised in Chicago, so he would have been more ready to play for the Chicago Bulls than Jordan would be to play for the Pistons. On top of that, the Bulls organization was on the rise in the early 90s, so it would make more sense for him to be on it anyway.

Michael Jordan And Isiah Thomas Would Fit Well Together On Paper, But Not Otherwise

Isiah Thomas is one of the greatest point guards ever, and Michael Jordan is the best shooting guard of all time. A backcourt duo of these two would have run the NBA for years, especially if they were on the Bulls alongside Scottie Pippen playing as a forward.

Thomas averaged 9.3 assists for his career and attempted 16 field goals every game on average. In contrast, Jordan attempted 22.9 field goals every game and liked to bear the scoring load. This combination would have been lethal, and they would also bring different skills on the defensive end.

The only issue would be the fact that Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan don’t get along. Michael Jordan has called Isiah an a**hole, something Zeke is still expecting an apology for. A team with the two of them would certainly win a lot, but it would be difficult to see it staying together for right or nine seasons.
