Jaren Jackson Jr. shared his two cents on Dillon Brooks’ trash-talking LeBron James during their first-round matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaking on Podcast P, the forward minced no words. “It definitely helped [the Lakers] get around something, get some energy,” Jackson Jr. said on the “Podcast P” show with Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George. “But he is old. He kicked our a**, and he’s old.”
It all started when Brooks called James old and that he wouldn’t respect anyone who could give him 40 points. And the four-time NBA champion later responded with a solid performance averaging 22.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in that series.
At the other end, Brooks struggled to back his talk and was even ejected in Game 3 after hitting the 38-year-old in the groin.

Jackson didn’t pull his punches when he revealed that as old as James was, who has been dominating the league since 2003, he was always superior to the Grizzles, and he proved just that.
The Grizzlies now face a doubtful future with Ja Morant’s availability for the 2023-24 season. With reports of the guard expected to be suspended for the first half of the upcoming edition, the team will have their hands full in staying on top.
Jaren Jackson Jr. Believes The Playoff Ouster Was A Lesson The Grizzlies Needed
Speaking on the same podcast, Jackson believed that the 4-2 loss the Lakers handed them was a much-needed reality check the team needed.
“I think gettin’ humbled is the best thing for us…we got leveled at the end of the year…this is gonna be the best thing for us…we gonna remember that feeling all the way up to the playoffs, and we’re gonna get it done.”
As confident as the forward feels, the Grizzlies will need to play consistently, and mostly in the absence of their star players. How their journey pans out in 2023-24 remains to be seen.
