Scottie Pippen was in everybody’s mouth once again after he attacked Michael Jordan, calling his former teammate a ‘horrible player’ during his first four NBA seasons.
Pippen was terribly wrong with this take, and many fans reminded him that Jordan always praised him, and he was the one attacking No. 23 for no good reason. Besides fans, controversial analyst Stephen A. Smith gave his two pennies on this situation, criticizing Scottie for his harsh words (11:32 mark).
“Jordan was damn near as big as Michael Jackson. That’s who Scottie Pippen just said was a horrible player. Now one can easily deduce what Scottie Pippen said and simply ask a very rhetorical question: ‘If Jordan was horrible what the hell did that make you?’ But that would be disrespectful to Scottie Pippen. And Scottie Pippen doesn’t deserve that,” Stephen A. said.
Smith suggested that Pippen has different reasons to attack Jordan, as saying all these things about somebody who always showed the utmost respect for him and credited him as his best teammate ever it’s simply crazy.
“But you know what Scottie Pippen deserves? He deserves to hear the truth. Somebody has to tell him. Several truths come to mind,” he continued. “How you sound on this particular footage of you talking about Michael Jordan; you sound like a damn fool. You sound like an ignorant dude that don’t know the game. We know better than that. So it only brings two other things to mind, bro. Envy and bitterness. Those are the two things.”
Stephen A. says that it’s easy to feel envy when Michael Jordan took all the attention and the credit for the Bulls’ magical runs, but Jordan always made sure to give Pippen his flowers.
None of that has changed Pippen’s mind, who will continue attacking Jordan no matter how wrong he is with his claims. It’s still hard to believe this situation, as Trae Young said, but this is what Pippen has become.
Scottie Pippen Put Himself On A Pedestal While Destroying Jordan
Pippen shocked the world once again when he said Jordan didn’t start playing well until he landed in Chicago in 1987. This was wrong for a lot of reasons, as MJ was already considered a top talent in the NBA during his first four campaigns.
These two became the best duo in NBA history, winning multiple championships, dominating the competition, and achieving incredible accolades. It’s sad that their relationship is over due to these comments. Pippen made a lot of enemies when he turned against Jordan, and now their relationship is unsalvageable.
