Jayson Tatum is the face of the Boston Celtics franchise. Evidently, NBA fans can be cruel at times to him if the team loses.
Thus, being active on social media during the playoffs can be a huge distraction for him. Following the Game 3 loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, Jayson Tatum revealed that he deleted Twitter when the playoffs because of haters.
“I deleted Twitter from my phone to start the playoffs,” Tatum said. “So, honestly, I haven’t seen anything good, bad, or indifferent since Game 1 against the Hawks. I’m certain that after every game you win, you’re the best player and the best team. And when you lose, you’re not the star, and the team’s not good enough. I’m sure there will be some of that, but out of sight, out of mind.”

Jayson Tatum’s answer came in response to the narrative that would be pushed over the next few days on Twitter following the Celtics’ shocking Game 3 loss. Since Tatum doesn’t even have Twitter on his phone, it’s one way to deal with the haters.
As for the game, the Celtics were handed a 102-128 defeat in the ever-so-important matchup in the series. They are now trailing 3-0 in the series, and it will take a miracle for the team to bounce back and eliminate the Heat.
The Celtics Gave Up In Game 3 vs. The Heat
Jayson Tatum finished Game 3 with just 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists to his name. The 25-year-old’s fourth-quarter scoring drought has continued in the series, as he is yet to make a field goal in the final 12 minutes.
Keeping that in mind, many are starting to believe that Tatum, alongside Jaylen Brown, simply lacks the mentality to outplay the Heat. NBA legend Magic Johnson even tweeted out that the Celtics raised the white flag in Game 3.
“In my 44 years of being associated with the NBA, I never thought I’d see a Boston Celtics team, a franchise with 17 Championships, quit. I know Celtics fans all over the world must be disgusted and devastated. The Miami Heat blew them out 128-102 in Game 3.”
The Celtics finished the regular season as the second seed in the East. But so far, they aren’t playing like that in the Eastern Conference Finals.
With the deficit now at 0-3, it’s close to impossible to see the Celtics make a comeback in the series. But if they can somehow do that, it would create history as it has never happened before.
