The Los Angeles Lakers have pulled off an incredible Game 1 win 117-112 on the Golden State Warriors’ home floor to steal homecourt advantage in the series.

Anthony Davis had a sensational 30-point, 20-rebound game to completely dominate the night and overcome a great shooting night from the Warriors that saw Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Poole all hit six three-pointers individually.

Anthony Davis controlled every minute of the game with his incredibly solid performance on the night.

LeBron James had an average game and fans want him to step up offensively.

D’Angelo Russell had a crucial 19-point outing, hitting shots at important times. Fans were happy to see him and AD play excellently off each other.

Jordan Poole had a great 21-point performance off the bench to keep the Warriors in the game.

Davis had poor shot selection at times, missing some poorly-timed threes as the Warriors went on a fourth-quarter run.

Laker fans are happy that the team is looking competitive even with LeBron not being at his best.

Jarred Vanderbilt’s defense restricted Steph to a scoreless second quarter and a poor shooting night, causing fans to praise his play.

LeBron James had 22 points on 37.5% shooting efficiency, while Curry had 27 points on 41.1%. Klay Thompson had a crucial 25-point performance to keep the Warriors competitive, but Dennis Schroder giving the Lakers 19 off the bench helped them outpace the Warriors offensively. Kevon Looney tried his best to match AD and matched his rebound count, with both pulling down 23 boards in the game.

Another Warriors Comeback Loading?

Losing homecourt advantage in Game 1 isn’t ideal for the Warriors, but they just proved to the world that they can win a playoff series on the road with their Game 7 classic against the Kings. It’ll be crucial for them to stop the Lakers in Game 2, as they cannot afford to lose two games at home and head back to LA with a 2-0 deficit.

Even if the Warriors completed a 2-0 comeback against the Kings, the Lakers aren’t the same. Their defense is far more reliable than what Sacramento had and it showed today. LeBron is playing the best defense of his Lakers’ tenure since the 2020 playoffs, while players like Vanderbilt, Hachimura, and obviously AD are proving their defense to be way too strong.

The biggest mistake any basketball fan can make is counting out the Warriors. Many tried doing so after the Kings took a 2-0 lead as well and the team responded by winning. The same applies here, even though the challenge is far more profound.
