It’s decided, the Golden State Warriors will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals this season.

Klay Thompson of the Warriors is excited to play against the Lakers in the second round. Thompson was recently asked about his thoughts on his father, Mychal Thompson’s, allegiance in the series. After all, Mychal was a member of the Lakers during his playing days.

“I really don’t know. If I had to guess, probably his employer,” Thompson said. â€œI have so many great memories of him watching the Lakers, watching Kobe, watching Shaq, and Pau. I’m just really excited to try and stick it to the team I grew up rooting for.

Klay had a defeated look on his face when the reporter asked him this question. He was confused as he believes Mychal will be supporting the Lakers.

Thompson was a part of the Los Angeles Lakers for five seasons (1986-87 to 1990-91). During the stint, he averaged 8.9 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 0.6 APG, 0.5 SPG, and 0.8 BPG.

Klay Thompson Says Playing Against The Lakers In The Playoffs Is A Dream Come True For Him

Klay Thompson has spent his entire career so far with the Golden State Warriors. While Klay has been linked to the Purple and Gold several times, he has always stayed loyal to the Dubs.

Considering Klay has grown up watching the Lakers, it’s no surprise that he is a fan of the franchise. Keeping that in mind, Thompson recently revealed that playing vs. the Lakers in the postseason is a dream come true for the four-time NBA champion.

“It’s special. Playing LeBron in the Finals four times, who is obviously one of the greatest to ever play, and Anthony Davis is right there as well, we’ve played AD in the playoffs too. Watching that last series against Memphis, it looks like they’re gelling.

“Their guys know their roles, and it’s going to be a huge challenge for us but we’re all excited to play the Lakers. It’s a legendary franchise. Warriors and Lakers, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other in the playoffs. I know I am personally excited that I get to play in front of my father, mother, my best friends, and go down to SoCal after our home stand. It’s just a dream come true, I’ve waited for this for 12 years.”

Thompson’s wait to play against the Lakers will soon be over, as the second-round series is all set to begin on Tuesday at the Chase Center. The Dubs are the favorites to win four games vs. the Lakers, but it is easier said than done.

The Lakers are in great form after eliminating the second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the opening round of the postseason.
