The Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings in Game 7 of the first round, moving on to face the Los Angeles Lakers. This was a hard-fought series, but the team with the most talented squad ended up prevailing.

There is no doubt that in the end, the Golden State Warriors’ experience won out over the youth of the Sacramento Kings. After all, they have won four championships as a squad and made plenty of deep playoff runs. In fact, after the game, Klay Thompson stated that nobody should doubt the Warriors’ championship DNA, and it is fair to say that few teams can beat them in a seven-game series.

“50 points from our best player, holding them to 38% from the field and 26% from 3. Sounds like championship DNA to me… I would never doubt a champion. Especially who’s been there and done it routinely.”

Klay Thompson does have a point: it is hard to bet against the Warriors, especially since they’ve shown that they can win at the highest level. However, it is easy to see why some thought they might end up losing this series, as the Kings had the team on the ropes.

In the first round, Klay Thompson averaged 20.6 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 2.1 APG for the Golden State Warriors. Though he ended up struggling in Game 7, it is clear that the team wouldn’t have won without his contributions.

Klay Thompson Is Ready To Face The Los Angeles Lakers

There’s no doubt that this next matchup between the Warriors and the Lakers is bound to be exciting, and it seems as though Klay Thompson is ready for it. He recently claimed that he’s waited for this moment “for 12 years”.

“It’s special. Playing LeBron in the Finals four times, who is obviously one of the greatest to ever play, and Anthony Davis is right there as well, we’ve played AD in the playoffs too. Watching that last series against Memphis, it looks like they’re gelling. Their guys know their roles and it’s going to be a huge challenge for us but we’re all excited to play the Lakers. It’s a legendary franchise. Warriors and Lakers, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other in the playoffs. I know I am personally excited that I get to play in front of my father, mother, my best friends, and go down to SoCal after our home stand. It’s just a dream come true, I’ve waited for this for 12 years.”

Hopefully, we see Klay Thompson show out against the Lakers. It is clear that he’s fired up to play in front of his loved ones, and it is likely that we’ll see at least one more spectacular performance from the shooting guard.
