Rudy Gobert is not having a perfect time at the moment. The team has lost back-to-back games against the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Lakers’ loss was demoralizing, it was after the Suns’ result that Gobert went off at the referees. He was fined for his comments but has found support from perhaps the most unexpected source.
Shaquille O’Neal has been one of the biggest detractors of Rudy Gobert in NBA media. And while he usually has a lot of words to take shots at Gobert, it seems he is silently supporting the Timberwolves big man this time. Fans noticed that O’Neal shared the post of Gobert’s complaints against the officiating on his Instagram story, refraining from providing his commentary on it.

Knowing their history, it is difficult to imagine Shaq supporting Gobert in just about anything. This story’s lack of input from O’Neal means it’s impossible to tell exactly what he meant when he shared it. But on the surface, it seems he agrees with Gobert’s take, even though the NBA itself is not a huge fan of it.
Rudy Gobert being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves was supposed to catapult them toward the top of the Western Conference. He has not had that kind of impact, though, and they are only 1.5 games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks in the 11th-seed spot. The Wolves lost a massive game against the Los Angeles Lakers, thanks partly to Gobert being a little soft with Anthony Davis, but they still control their destiny.
Shaquille O’Neal Has Blasted Rudy Gobert Many Times In The Past
Shaquille O’Neal has a case to be considered the most dominant center in NBA history. And his talent and abilities have made Shaq a little insensitive to other big men that can’t play the same way he did. After Gobert was traded to the Timberwolves, O’Neal called out the trade, saying if he was that good, the Jazz would have kept him.
He slammed Gobert for a rant against Timberwolves fans this season, and of course, there was the time he called Rudy Gobert ‘French Barbeque Chicken’ after the big man said he’d lock O’Neal up. This history makes it hard to believe that Shaq is supporting Rudy in this instance, but at face value, that is what it seems like.
