Victor Wembanyama set the alarms earlier today, as the Frenchman made a big joke on social media, sending the NBA world into a frenzy.

After Buttcrack Sports ‘reported’ that Wembanyama won’t declare to this year’s NBA Draft, the player took to Twitter to ‘confirm’ the news.

Of course, Buttcrack Sports is a parody account and this report isn’t serious, but Wemby saw a chance and took it. This is great timing, especially considering today’s April Fool’s day.

Many fans reacted to this, with some showing their surprise at Wembanyama making such a huge statement just like that. But it’s clear it was all a joke.

As expected, many people pointed out this may be an April Fool’s joke, but they didn’t look convinced.

Others didn’t pay much attention to that and went straight to say that Wemby would be soon in the league.

Somebody even joked about how Gregg Popovich would react if this was actually true.

The San Antonio Spurs are widely considered Wemby’s landing spot in the NBA, although they still have to go to the lottery and see if they get the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

San Antonio Spurs Fans Try To Recruit Victor Wembanyama With Huge Mural

People at San Antonio are well aware that this is a big possibility and won’t hesitate to pitch Wemby. For instance, they recently made a huge mural of Wembanyama rocking the Spurs jersey.

This player is expected to do big things in the NBA, and legends like Magic Johnson have warned the association about the dangers of the Frenchman. Wemby has huge expectations around him, with Shaquille O’Neal even saying he can be the best player in the world.

Fortunately, he was only joking about not declaring for the draft, but fans had to see and think twice before confirming the player was just having fun with one of the most famous parody Twitter accounts out there.
