Ja Morant reacted to allegations of him flashing a gun at a 17-year-old with a simple and impactful picture on his Instagram story.

The Memphis Grizzlies guard shared an image of Fred Hammond’s art cover of his song ‘No Weapon’ after reports of him repeatedly punching a teen and later pulling out a gun on him did the rounds.

Per police reports, the 17-year-old alleged that Morant had punched him several times and re-emerged with a gun that was visible.

While his agent leaped to his defense by calling the reports “irresponsible” and “defamatory”, the explosive point guard chose a rather subtle response to get his point across. Adding to this was his reported threat of a mall security guard. Clearly, the bad press has mounted on Morant and doesn’t appear to be slowing anytime soon.

Ja Morant And The Memphis Grizzlies Have Been A Constant Topic Of Discussion This Season

Be it their celebrations that irk opponents, or the trash talk that sees brickbats hurled at them, Ja Morant and the Grizzlies haven’t earned any fans this season despite having a stellar season so far.

Earlier, former NFL star-turned-analyst slammed Morant for acting “hood” in the NBA instead of focusing on his growth and living up to the hype of being looked at as the league’s future. Adding to this was former star Matt Barnes who urged him to be careful of being carried away.

Safe to say, Morant’s recent allegations that have landed him in the soup will have dented his image as one of the bonafide stars of not just the league, but also his franchise.

He does come in as one of the most decorated players presently, but it remains to be seen what the ramification of his latest controversy will be. One thing is for sure, the focus in the Grizzlies locker room won’t be the same.
