Nick Young Got Accidentally Hit By An Elbow While Boxing, Argued It Was A Headbutt, And Got Eliminated

Nick Young didn't exactly have the most stellar outing in his celebrity boxing match against Michael Minikon.

Celebrity boxing is hard to pin down as a sport, although it has grown massively in popularity in recent times. Many former NBA stars have gotten involved in it. Nate Robinson fought Jake Paul, even Lamar Odom got in the boxing right at one point. And the latest person to do so is Nick Young, who fought Malcolm Minikon at the Social Gloves event.

Nick Young got made fun of a fair bit for his moves, considering that he hasn’t trained for very long. However, it was the end of the fight that got even more embarrassing for Young. The fight was called off after Minikon seemed to knock Young out, who went careening through the ropes of the ring.

After the fight was over, Young claimed that Minikon had headbutted him even though it didn’t seem to be the case during replays. It simply wasn’t an excellent outing for Young, who hardly covered himself in glory. While it’s always fun to watch ex-players pursue their passions, especially in a case like this, this hasn’t turned out to be the best look for Young.

Clips from the game went viral afterward, with people talking about Young’s performance and a lot of fans roasting Young. However, he seemed happy with everything that he did in the ring, as reported by Mirror.

Young went on to claim he was headbutted by Minikon, despite replays of the incident suggesting otherwise. “I felt good, I hit him a lot, I felt I came and did what I had to do. He hit me with a cheap shot and that’s what you’ve got to do when you’re losing. I don’t want him getting a headbutt at the end and thinking he won off a headbutt, I don’t know how you can think he won,” he said.

Ultimately, if he continues doing this, he is bound to get better at it. Young did say he wants to get in the ring with D’Angelo Russell, but with the Timberwolves pushing to make waves next season, that might just end up as a pipe dream. Retirement doesn’t necessarily work out for a lot of players, many end up without much, so it’s good to see that Young is at least able to pursue his passions.
