Shaquille O’Neal may be best known for his dominant NBA career or his frequent appearances in NBA media, but there is a different aspect of his life that is quite intriguing too. O’Neal is an astute businessman, and he has grown his wealth by being involved in several businesses across the United States and even across the world.

O’Neal’s investments are a matter of great speculation, with recent information suggesting that he owns over 150 restaurants, along with many fitness centers and even a movie theater. It’s not easy to be worth a reported $400 million, after all. But it’s hard to get an exact approximation of how many things he’s involved in, considering how diverse his portfolio is.

Well, the big man has answered himself, discussing his business ventures in a recent episode of The Big Podcast. He gave a number for how many companies he has been involved with, including the many that he is still currently a part of.

“I’m a part of over 100 companies, I have 30 endorsement deals, I am invested in over 200 companies, my favorite word in business is joint-ventureship.”

O’Neal made over $280 million from his NBA career, a whopping sum considering he entered the league in 1992. Athletes before him have lost massive fortunes, but Shaq wasn’t about to become one of these. The fact that he has turned those earnings into both a luxurious life and one where he has only grown that wealth is quite incredible, considering the stories of his spending habits.

Shaq has become the ultimate example for the young athletes of today. Talent is something that they are born with, but growing the fruits of that talent into generational wealth is easier said than done. Shaq being involved in a multitude of businesses is a testament to how smart he is and the business acumen he possesses.
