Draymond Green has always had a chip on his shoulder after he slid to the 35th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Green has never let it go that so many players were picked ahead of him but he went a bit too far when talking about one of those players earlier this month.

Green had been asked during an appearance on Podcast P about which selection before his was the most ridiculous one and he went with Andrew Nicholson, stating that he didn’t even look like a basketball player. Nicholson has now responded to Green during an appearance on Hip Hop Hoops.

“Honestly, it is kind of unfortunate and I see it as an insecurity on his end,” Nicholson said. “For A, I didn’t know he was thinking about me for the last 11 years, I wasn’t thinking about him, I’m going to be honest with you.”

“I was happy to see him (Draymond) succeed but I don’t know, maybe it is just the way I was raised, but I like seeing guys do well,” Nicholson added. “… When someone has kind of that insecurity and doesn’t want to see someone else do well or is questioning 11 years later why this guy was (drafted) before me, it’s kind of disappointing.”

It is completely understandable that Nicholson, who now plays for the Bay Area Dragons in Hong Kong, didn’t take too kindly to Green’s remarks. Honestly, anyone in his situation would as Green was being a bit too disrespectful.

“Not to throw salt at anybody, but, like, Andrew Nicholson was drafted over me at 19,” Green had said. “When it comes to winning, half the battle is looking like a basketball player.”

“If you look at the other side of the floor and you see guys that don’t look like basketball players, you automatically lose respect,” Green added. “And when you lose respect for those guys, you do things to them in the game that you otherwise wouldn’t have done if you respected that guy. This guy doesn’t even look like a basketball player.”

Considering how Green has had an awful lot to say this offseason, don’t be surprised if he fires back at Nicholson when he hears about this response. He’d probably justify his comments by stating that the Canadian was out of the NBA after just five seasons.

Draymond Green Has Had Quite An Eventful Couple Of Days

It would appear that getting the four-year, $100 million contract from the Golden Warriors has led to Green getting even bolder and losing any kind of filter when he opens his mouth.

A fan hilariously pointed out that Draymond stated he doesn’t like new teammate Chris Paul, beefed with Jordan Poole’s father, and fell for a fake Kevin Garnett quote in a span of 24 hours. Green also claimed that less than 60% of the players in the NBA have basketball IQ and just seems to be going off at this point.
