It seems Steve Kerr finally felt the need to point out everything that the Lakers have been doing in this series to get foul calls by openly criticizing their flopping tactics.

Chris Haynes asked a prominent but unnamed Lakers player about his thoughts on Kerr’s comments prior to the elimination Game 5 in the series.

“Steve Kerr said that the Lakers are getting away with flopping and that they are fooling the refs. He’s encouraging the refs to look deeper into that and not fall for it. I had to get the Lakers’ perspective about how they feel about Steve Kerr calling gamesmanship at this point. I texted a prominent Lakers player. This was his response: ‘Let them b*tch and complain. It shows weakness and frustration. We can’t get caught up in that game. We just have to play and keep fighting.'”

Referee actions have been a major talking point of this series for most casual fans who aren’t understanding the reasons behind the free throw discrepancy between the Lakers and Warriors. Kerr had praised officiating in previous games but has clearly grown frustrated with the Lakers embellishing contact to get even more fouls called in their favor. Evidently, the Lakers players don’t care much about it.

Will Game 5 Be The Final Game Of The Series?

If the Lakers manage to gentlemen sweep the Warriors, it will be one of the biggest achievements of the franchise in recent years. They’ll become the first team in 8 years to eliminate the Warriors in the Western Conference playoffs, a statement that seems ridiculous to even think about.

With Game 5 being in the Chase Center, the Warriors will desperately try to ensure they can win a game on their home floor and go back to Los Angeles for a tricky Game 6. They have to take it one win at a time, so beating the Lakers in Game 5 is imperative. After all, even Anthony Davis knows that if there’s a team that can pull off a 3-1 comeback in the NBA, it’s Golden State.
