The 2022-23 All-NBA teams have finally been announced, and everyone has had a lot to say about the selections, with some controversial omissions.

Two of the best guards to have been left off the list were Ja Morant and Trae Young, who aired their frustrations on social media. Young criticized everyone that have been dismissing his achievements as ’empty stats.’

Morant lost out on a massive payday by missing All-NBA, as he will no longer be eligible for a supermax rookie extension. He let everyone know that he will be back on top soon.

The All-NBA first team saw two guards make it who didn’t even make it to the playoffs, so Young’s empty stats frustration is valid. The difference is that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic had incredible seasons and took some of the worst rosters to more wins than they would’ve got otherwise. Morant’s All-NBA bid was ruined when he got himself suspended for his gun issues in March.

Were The All-NBA Teams Fair?

The 2022-23 All-NBA teams feature eight Western Conference players and seven Eastern Conference players.

1st Team: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo
2nd Team: Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jokic, Jaylen Brown
3rd Team: Damian Lillard, De’Aaron Fox, LeBron James, Julius Randle, Domantas Sabonis

Three of the six guards named to the team missed the playoffs, while players like Jaylen Brown couldn’t find a spot in the squad. Five out of the six guards are Western Conference guards. People will disagree over the inclusion of many players, including Stephen Curry and LeBron James, for not playing enough games. Ultimately, the teams are final and will go down in NBA history, so everyone will have to accept these results.
