LeBron James is hoping to help the Lakers close their second-round series against the Warriors in Game 5 of the series. It seems the challenge will be greater than anticipated.

LeBron was called for an incredibly rare five-second back-to-the-basket violation at the start of Game 5, causing fans to be utterly shocked at such a rare violation suddenly being used.

Fans are already accusing the referees of bias.

Many Laker fans think the game is already out of hand.

One fan basically monologues his frustrations on the call and complimented the commentators for calling the absurdity of the call on the broadcast.

One fan joked about LeBron being the GOAT because he had never seen a five-second back-to-the-basket violation be called before.

Another fan said that the call shows why the rule needs to be removed, especially in an era of jump shooting.

There are plenty of players in the NBA that start posting up players with their backs against the basket for more than five seconds that don’t get this call. Even James hasn’t been called for something like this in ages. There isn’t a refereeing conspiracy at play, but nobody can blame the fans when referees start making calls like this.

Game 5 Is Turning Out To Be A War

The Lakers were in a cold stretch to start the game when James was called for the violation, falling to an early double-digit deficit in the game. They have since made a comeback and are currently down by just one point with 9 minutes left in the half. The score is 39-40.

Anthony Davis has 13 points while LeBron James has 10 points so far in the game. The Warriors are led in scoring by Draymond Green, surprisingly, as he has 10 points so far in the game. There’s a lot more basketball to be played as Golden State fights for their season in this Game 5, facing a 3-1 series deficit.
