The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to advance to the Western Conference Finals tonight by finishing off their series against the Golden State Warriors in Game 5.

After the Lakers took a 3-1 series lead in Game 4, Steve Kerr came out and criticized the flopping the Lakers are doing to get more calls. Darvin Ham directly responded to that quote by shading Kerr at the end of the first quarter of Game 5.

“We don’t teach flopping. We teach our players to play downhill and attack the paint and be forceful.”

An anonymous Laker player mocked the flopping criticisms coming out of the Warriors camp as well, showing that this topic has definitely struck a nerve with the Lakers. Given the fact that LeBron James was called for a rare five-second back-to-the-basket violation in Game 5, fans of the Lakers are going to hurl some criticism right back.

Who Can Close Out Game 5?

Through six minutes of the second quarter, the Lakers and Warriors are tied 50-50, with LeBron James having a massive performance so far with 17 points. The Warriors have found their shooting rhythm tonight and have been shooting very consistently. Similarly, the Lakers have been efficient within the two-point range and have also been shooting their threes well.

The defense will ultimately be the deciding factor in this game, as whichever team starts getting stops will be the first to go on a run. The Warriors did that in the first quarter when the Lakers couldn’t score to start the game.

Golden State will be hoping to replicate that stretch again, possibly in the always-dangerous third quarter. The Lakers won’t go down without a fight, even if they have three games to put this 3-1 series away.
