The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies in a must-win game for the franchise that is now just 2 games below .500.

Anthony Davis was the star of the show, scoring 30 points and grabbing 22 rebounds on the night. After the game, he seemingly took a shot at an infamous clip of Russell Westbrook telling the Lakers’ locker room to have fun regardless of the result

Westbrook’s quote came inside the Lakers’ locker room and left a bad taste in the mouth of most Laker fans. The same quote is now often used against him since he’s been traded away from the squad.

The Lakers are doing much better and have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games. This is an encouraging trajectory for the team that finally earned a spot in the play-in tournament last night. Now, the team needs to keep stacking wins and become one of the top-six teams in the West.

The Lakers Putting It Together At The Right Time

Even 2 extra wins through the first 50 games of the season would put the Lakers in a comfortable playoff seed right now, but the team has to fight their way up over their next 16 games. Ending the season with at least 44 wins will be a priority to ensure a strong seed, so that means LA will aim to win 12 of their remaining games.

If they can even manage to win 10, the Lakers will finish the season with a .500 record and ideally be a play-in team. The aim has always been top-6 for the team, and winning games is going to make that goal seem more tangible with every passing day.

This team is having fun as a younger and better-fitting unit, which is leading to wins. With players not settling for mediocrity anymore, it seems Anthony Davis is liking the locker room a lot more now.
