  • Rudy Gobert finally hit a three-pointer in a game earlier this week
  • Gobert compared it to losing his virginity
  • His Timberwolves teammate Anthony Edwards hilariously called him crazy on hearing about it

Rudy Gobert made a little bit of personal history earlier this week when he finally hit a three-pointer in a game. It happened while playing for France in a FIBA World Cup exhibition game against Montenegro and Gobert got a little too excited after that.

He stated after the game that he felt like he lost his virginity and his Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Anthony Edwards had a hilarious reaction when he heard about it.

“No comment, man. Rudy — I love Rudy. That’s my dog, but he crazy.”

You can’t blame Gobert too much for that I suppose. He is 0-14 from beyond the arc in his NBA career and had gone 0-3 with the Timberwolves last season. It must have been a bit of a relief to finally hit one in a game, even if it was an exhibition. While it is unlikely that the 31-year-old Frenchman will let it fly regularly from three next season, he clearly seems to have put a lot of work into developing an outside shot.

Anthony Edwards Made Some Strong Statements On Expectations For Next Season

The 22-year-old Edwards made the All-Star team for the first time last season and finished the campaign with averages of 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. He is clearly on the ascendancy and it appears the team has some big expectations for next season.

Edwards says they want to get 50 wins in 2023-24 and want to get Karl-Anthony Towns playing at an MVP level. They also want Gobert to be the Defensive Player of the Year, but it remains to be seen if the three-time winner is capable of returning to that level.

Last season certainly wasn’t his best by any stretch and he’d also be keen to show that the Timberwolves didn’t make a mistake by trading that massive haul to acquire him.
