The Brooklyn Nets are not big fans of Kyrie Irving. If it wasn’t obvious from their extremely acrimonious split after 4 years of drama, maybe the Nets’ actions on Twitter have made it clearer.

The Nets traded Irving to the Dallas Mavericks after he requested a trade last week, signaling the end for the Nets duo of Kyrie and Kevin Durant. Durant was moved before the deadline to the Phoenix Suns along with T.J. Warren.

Despite Irving being traded 2 days prior to KD and Warren, the Nets never acknowledged it on social media with a ‘thank you’ post for the star on Twitter. Kevin Durant was quick to get one yesterday, along with a video thanking him for his service.

Warren also received a post despite signing with the Nets in the summer on a minimum contract.

This is quite petty from the Nets, given Irving did accomplish good things for the franchise. He is the single-game scoring leader in franchise history for a 60-point performance last season and had a season of shooting on 50-40-90 efficiency

Were The Nets Right To Not Pay Tribute To Kyrie Irving?

Kyrie Irving was a thorn in the side of Joe Tsai, especially over the last 18 months. His relationship is as sour as can be with the Nets owner, with the franchise going out of its way to ensure Irving wasn’t traded to his preferred team, the Lakers. However, it seems players are not fans of the Nets’ front office in general, with Kevin Durant wanting out in the summer and James Harden forcing his way out last season. Even Harden got a ‘thank you’ post from the franchise.

With all the issues Kyrie caused, it made sense for the Nets not to honor him. However, to go out of their way and thank every single player that played for them and not extend the same courtesy to Kyrie is definitely a move of pettiness and passive aggression from Brooklyn. At least their relationship is over now.
