In the 2024 NBA Draft, the potential No. 1 and No. 2 picks, Alex Sarr and Cody Williams, respectively, hold a unique connection to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both players are brothers of current Thunder players (Olivier Sarr And Jalen Willaims), making for an intriguing storyline in the upcoming draft.

Alex Sarr, a versatile 7’1″ forward/center from France and younger brother of Olivier Sarr, is projected as a top prospect in the draft. With a game reminiscent of Jaren Jackson Jr., Sarr possesses the ability to defend multiple positions and contribute on both ends of the floor.

Despite a hip injury sidelining him for part of the season, Sarr’s return has showcased his potential to be a game-changer. His projected fit with the Detroit Pistons could offer him the opportunity to elevate the team’s defense and contribute to their resurgence. He is averaging 9.7 points, and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 52.0% from the field for the Perth Wildcats.

On the other hand, Cody Williams, a 6’8″ forward from Colorado, is the younger brother of Oklahoma City standout Jalen Williams. While Cody’s draft position fluctuates, his talent is undeniable. A skilled ball handler and perimeter defender, Williams boasts an impressive 3-point shooting percentage.

With room to grow and develop his game, Williams is viewed as one of the safer options within the top 10 picks. His potential selection by the Portland Trail Blazers could provide them a versatile scoring threat and defensive presence on the wing. Williams is averaging 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 59.2% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range.

In CBS’s 2024 Mock Draft, Alex Sarr claims the coveted No. 1 spot, indicating his standing as a highly regarded prospect. Conversely, Cody Williams holds the No. 5 position in CBS’s rankings, reflecting his status as a top-tier talent with significant potential.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report’s current mock draft lists Alex Sarr at No. 2 and Cody Williams at No. 5. This variation in rankings highlights the differing evaluations and perspectives among draft analysts.

Even within our own mock draft, there’s evidence of the dynamic nature of draft projections. In our previous iteration, Alex Sarr was positioned at No. 4, while Cody Williams occupied the No. 9 spot. However, these rankings are subject to change on a weekly basis as players’ performances, scouting reports, and team needs continue to evolve.

The possibility of both Sarr and Williams being drafted by the Thunder adds an intriguing dynamic to the draft. If realized, it would mark the first time in NBA history that a team has drafted two pairs of brothers. With the Thunder holding three first-round picks in the draft, which includes potentially high selections from the Houston Rockets (Top 4 protected) and Utah Jazz (Top 10 protected) and a late first-round selection from the Los Angeles Clippers (No protections), they have the opportunity to make this historic scenario a reality.

As the draft approaches and the prospects’ performances continue to evolve, the anticipation builds for what promises to be an exciting draft night with potential history-making implications for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
