Charles Barkley Says Jayson Tatum And Jaylen Brown Are Just Nice Guys Who Don’t Have Jimmy Butler’s Dog Mentality

NBA Legend Charles Barkley doesn't think that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have the kind of fiery personality that Jimmy Butler has, and that is holding them back against the Heat.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have long been considered the best young duo in the NBA. But the two stars have failed to make their mark in the Eastern Conference Finals, as the Celtics have gone down 2-0 against the Miami Heat, thanks to Jimmy Butler’s heroics. And Charles Barkley believes this happened because Tatum and Brown don’t have the dog mentality that Jimmy Butler has.

During the pre-game coverage on TNT, Charles Barkley said “I think the problem is, they’re just a bunch of nice guys who are really good at basketball. They don’t have that Jimmy Butler dog… They haven’t won the big one either because they’re missing that. Jayson Tatum is a great player, and Jaylen Brown is a great player. They’re just nice guys. Jimmy Butler don’t have their talent but let me tell you something, you want Jimmy Butler in that foxhole.”

Jimmy Butler’s mentality has been a key factor in the Miami Heat’s success over the last few years. Despite not having an All-Star teammate since he arrived in Miami, Butler has led the Heat to three Eastern Conference Finals in the last four seasons. And a big part of that is due to Butler taking responsibility for the team and placing it on his own shoulders.

Many people have stated how perfect Jimmy Butler is for the Miami Heat, as their culture of hard work, determination, and playing tough is everything that Butler represents. And despite not having high-level teammates, Butler has shown that he can carry a team to victory. Butler’s main goal in the NBA is still the NBA championship, so it will be interesting to see whether he can take the Heat back to the NBA Finals.

Can Jimmy Butler Win A Ring With Miami?

Jimmy Butler came close to winning the NBA championship in 2020, missing out on the title thanks to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Many fans remember Butler’s iconic Game 5 performance in the 2020 NBA Finals, where he scored a 35-point triple-double to push the Lakers to a Game 6.

Butler showed his dog mentality yesterday against Boston, as he destroyed Grant Williams for trash-talking him and led the Miami Heat to victory in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Butler even took shots at Grant Williams after the game. Butler has arguably been the best performer during this playoff series, and if he keeps playing this way, it will be tough to stop him and the Miami Heat.
